When it comes to your wardrobe essentials, there is a list of things and clothes that you would like to consider, and crazy as it might sound, you will be surprised to find how many things you would actually like to incorporate in that list. From the iconic LBD or the little black dress to the distressed sweater and a fitted pair of jeans or a denim jacket, and even a basic tee or vest in bold colours or a simple trench coat or blazer, phew!
The list is proverbially endless. And you can go on adding to that list items such as a black leather bag, or a classic pair of black pumps and so on and so forth. But a latest addition to this list can be the western jacket. If you dug Sharon Stone’s look in The Quick and the Dead (1995), you know what we are talking about.
If you think that those western styled jackets are a thing of the past, you should be ready to embrace them once again since they have been resurrected and in fashion terminology, that is quite an event. Recently making their presence felt at the New York, Milan, Paris and London Fashion Week 2014, the western jacket has emerged as a staple in any woman’s wardrobe, any woman who means business and is the no-nonsense type that is.
When the western jacket has been represented by designers and brands such as Richard Nicoll, Ashish, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela and 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander Wang, you can fairly get an idea as to how much it has taken the fashion world by storm. With a genre of western films, music, art and literature to fall back on, it was only a matter of time that the western jackets hit the right target and that time is now.
