Each new season comes with new trends, and while some of them are becoming quite predictable, there are some that we will never be able to get used to. It looks like checkerboard pattern will be the hottest trend of fall. These come in many different shapes, colors, and styles, but basically they say the same thing: “Hey! Look at me!”
One of the most representative prints of the moment is known to be offered by Celine. We are referring to the laundry-bag squares. Although this print can remind you of your uncle’s socks, there is nothing retro about the style. It is so hot at the moment that a coat with this pattern has been featured on the cover of Vogue magazine.
Checks with Checks
It is a known rule of thumb not to mix two items with the same pattern. However, it looks like checks are an exception. There are a lot of designers, including Lanvin, Dolce&Gabbana, Emilia Wickstead, and Tommy Hilfiger, who have a bold vision of the pattern and presented their models in checks from head to toe.
Tartan Jacket or Coat
If you would like to achieve a more subtle effect, you should be thinking about a tartan jacket or coat. Items of this kind have been offered by Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Louis Vuitton. Although you might not have the budget for such items, you could let yourself be inspired by them.
No matter how strange this may sound, there are some bags as well that come with checks. As it has been mentioned before, it is best to match it to simple items. However, if you are confident that you can pull it off, you may also mix it with a checked coat, for a more dramatic effect.
Big Checks and Little Checks
While the big checks are suitable for the catwalk, small checks are friendlier with the sidewalk. In fact, there are some suits with checks that are suitable even for the office. We have to admit that checks aren’t suitable for everybody, and this is why you should start with smaller items at the beginning.
No matter how retro you think they are, it looks like the checked pants are having a huge comeback: more and more models are rocking such pants on the runway. This is a spin that you could think about as well for your wardrobe.
