Have you seen any pictures from those times when all women have been wearing huge velvet dresses? Most probably you think that those days are long over, but what if you are wrong? It looks like this season velvet has its moment, coming back in force.

One of the most important fashion weeks of them all is the New York Fashion week, and the star of it has been velvet. The fabric comes in numerous different kinds and patterns, and we might have seen jewel-tones loafers created by Jenni Kayne and also tuxedo coats designed by Tory Burch.

There have also been some other items that caught the attention of the participants, including the capsule collection for Theory that has been created by Olivier Theyskens that featured classic black blazers, not to mention the capes created by Marc Jacobs and the velvet coats of the Brit Alexa Chung.

According to Rachel Zoe, velvet has a moment this season. Although for a long period of time it has been considered one of those fabrics that are difficult to pull off by an average person, the mighty velvet is making its way to the runways.

It is true that it is difficult to wear a head to toe velvet outfit, but there are some creations this season that make all this possible. In case you take a look at these designs, you will realize that it’s not that difficult to live in a world where everybody is wearing all velvet outfits.

The printed velvet was presented by Proenza Schouler and Raulph Lauren also managed to create a chick look with the help of this elegant fabric. There have been many different styles approached at the show, including the 60s style, brought to life by Tory Burch and Marc Jacobs and also the elegant and stunning style that has been presented by Cavalli.

If we take a closer look to the collections we can see that Proenza Schouler has chosen to use different shapes and patterns, created with the help of velvet, going for the more vivid colors, such as yellow.

On the other hand Tory Burch, Betsey Johnson, Nicholas K and Marc Jacobs opted for the simpler look of velvet, without patterns, and shapes, but this doesn’t mean that the looks are that much simple.

Although the looks are fabulous, people may give you a weird look if you start walking on the streets wearing these clothes. The truth is that the luxurious texture of velvet is an effective tool if you are looking to make a fashion statement this fall.
