Ebony Fashion Show Suspended – Sad To See One Of The Best Tradition Go……
Posted on Feb 11, 2010 | Comments 0
This will be the first year since 1961 that the Ebony fashion show will not be held.
The brilliant lady that directed and produced the shows died on January 3, 2010 and there is no one who can just step in and take over.
Eunice Johnson was the widow of Ebony Magazine’s founder and has put on these shows in over 200 cities to raise money for various charities including the United Negro College Fund.
Showcasing the works of designers like Oscar de la Renta, Christian Dior, Carolina Herrera, Dolce & Gabbana as well as Bill Blass the show has always been a big hit.
This year in lieu of the show, designers are donating 2 outfits to each city to be auctioned so the work of Eunice Johnson should be remembered even after she is gone.
